| Comment, Article | Rie Kawakami Bio My work is about to express "life" that I see in phenomenon of nature or change in scenery. I prefer to imagine myself seeing earth from the Universe. If I see things from this perspective, it makes sense that nature has "will" to activate life by presenting everything in the world to be impermanent. An artificial change that caused by human "will" is very concerned with our emotion, such as anger, fear, sadness, happiness and desire. It is very interesting to see the contrast of those two "will", and I can accept the idea that what we are creating from our various emotions is also part of nature. This viewpoint is beautiful to me since it releases me from emotional sufferings and to stare at things calmly. I hope to express this thought by presenting vastness of time, space and energy, and its mystery in the life of universe through the work. I am mainly using metal as material because its flexibility for making shape and inorganic texture best matches to my expression. |
